The Necklace of Persistent Memory

Susan’s gift

Description

This necklace was a keepsake given by Susan Shoemaker, Tim’s wife, to her erstwhile college roommate and free spirit, Priscilla Lehto – eventually binding all three of them in a fateful embrace of tangible memory. The pendant houses a depiction of the melting clocks in Salvador Dali’s painting The Persistence of Memory, a token of significance for both women. Susan had found the necklace in an artist’s alleyway in New York’s SoHo district, a discovery that would later become intertwined with the circumstances that brought her and Tim together. It would thereafter acquire an altogether more turbulent meaning for the three of them, with devastating consequences one day on a mountain road in South America. Tim encounters the necklace again three years later in a chance encounter, one that will shake his soul and unearth a history he has desperately been trying to suppress.
