Bloody 46,117 mystery number scattered throughout scene

The Nightmare of Cpl. Acevedo

Description:

This macabre imagery was part of a chilling scene witnessed by Tim Shoemaker, Rachel Bloom, and Dr. Diane Mellon in the patient room of Marine Lance Corporal Pablo Acevedo. Pablo, blinded from shrapnel while posted in Afghanistan, had been the Patient Zero in Rachel’s clinical trials at Oak Ridge to restore sight in war veterans, the first to receive the customized retinal implants and to regain his vision.

He was then the first to succumb to the spreading madness overwhelming the veterans and terrorizing everyone involved with the trial. Deep in the throes of the psychosis, Pablo cut into himself and used his own blood to paint a series of messages and numbers on a wall in his room, including a certain five-digit number inscribed with particular frequency: 46117. Its significance is a mystery.
