The “flower sculpture” heirloom (bizarre nesting of wires and motherboard-like structure from 17th-century device)

Tim’s first heirloom

Description

This heirloom is the first of the Shoemaker family artifacts that Tim encounters, having been acquired by his Uncle Mitch from a branch of their extended family in Brazil. It hails from the 17th century, yet it has the power to process a batch of electrical inputs and output a concise, information-rich signal – all carried out through a nest of circuitry and piezoelectric crystals throughout its frame.

There is a curious aesthetic to this device, as it resembles a bouquet of flowers with their stems woven into a wire sculpture. This is likely a subtle message of sorts, a bit of symbolism with meaning to any insiders who knew of the master artisans behind these objects; if so, it is as yet unknown.
